Text in spreadsheets looks simple… right up until it isn’t.
In this lesson of Spreadsheet Basics, we cover the core text functions you’ll actually use: LEN, UPPER/LOWER, LEFT/RIGHT/MID, and the unsung hero TRIM (because invisible spaces are the spreadsheet equivalent of stepping on Lego). We also introduce FIND for locating characters, words, and phrases, plus a few examples of nesting functions to pull text from specific positions.
To finish, we look at non-formula text tools like bold/italics/underline, alignment, wrap vs clip, and we introduce Boolean TRUE/FALSE comparisons — a small feature that becomes a big deal later.
