A transfercase? WHAT? Yeah, I know. Its weird. I felt this was an opportunity to both learn and provide similar but different content. This is the blown transfercase from a 2004 GMC Sierra Z71. This is an NP246, 4 button style transfercase found in many GMT800 vehicles, which are 99-07(classic) GM Fullsize trucks and SUVs. I bought this truck after it was misdiagnosed as a bad rear end. The noises it made... well... they were pretty terrible. I put a good transfercase in the truck as I intend to keep the truck on the road and I figured the old one would make a good teardown. This is the first transfercase of this style I've ever had apart and its clear I don't quite have the necessary tooling to do this regularly. This was just for fun though as this T-case would end up in the scrap bin either way.
My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage business called Importapart located in the Saint Louis MO area. Part of our model is dismantling and selling parts from rare and niche market engines. I don't build or rebuild engines, we simply supply hard parts to those that do!
Want to see a particular engine torn down? I may have already done one! No really, check out my other videos for the engine you'd like to see! I've made over 60 other teardowns from a Cummins to an LS7, and from Rotary to Ram Ecodiesels. You can expect a new teardown every week!

As always I appreciate all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism.
Catch you on the next teardown!
