1- George Frederic Handel
0:01:17 "Music for the Royal Fireworks" HWV 351 (1749)

It was commissioned by George II of Great Britain to accompany the fireworks that took place in Green Park, London, on April 27, 1749. The occasion was to celebrate the end of the War of the Austrian Succession and the signing of the Treaty of Aachen. The work's catalog number is HWV 351.

2- J.S. Bach
0:12:38 Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D BWV 1050

Presented in 1721. The score is dedicated to Christian Ludwig, Marquis or Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt.

"I have taken the liberty of sending Your Royal Highness these Concertos, which I have adapted for various instruments; humbly begging you not to judge their imperfection, in accordance with the rigor of the fine and delicate taste that everyone knows you have for musical pieces, but rather to attract into benign consideration the profound respect and most humble obedience that I intend to show you with this."

In this fifth concerto, the harpsichord plays a part in both the concertino and the ripieno: in the concertino passages, the part is obbligato; In the ripieno fragments, it features a figured bass part and plays the continuo. Bach surprises the listener by giving the harpsichord, until then an accompanist, an unusual prominence on a par with the rest of the instruments.

Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, known as the Eroica or Heroica in English, was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven between 1802 and 1803. It is the third of his nine symphonies. The score is dedicated to Prince Joseph Franz von Lobkowitz. Napoleon Bonaparte was originally intended to be the dedicatee, but the composer removed his name from the score when he learned that the soldier and statesman had proclaimed himself emperor.

1:14:31 Atalanta - Ouverture HWV 35

Atalanta (HWV 35) is an opera in three acts by Georg Friedrich Händel, composed in 1736. It is based on the mythological athlete Atalanta. The Italian libretto is based on the book La Caccia in Aetolia by Belisario Valeriani. The identity of the librettist is unknown.

Handel composed the opera for the 1736 London celebrations for the wedding of Frederick Louis of Hanover, eldest son of King George II. The premiere took place on May 12, 1736, at Covent Garden Theatre. The premiere ended with a spectacular fireworks display, which was very popular at the time, and the opera with the fireworks was repeated several times during the year of its premiere.
