"One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" adds a clever new twist on a popular ride type. Like in other aerial-carousel attractions riders can manipulate the height of their vehicles with joysticks in front of them. In this attraction at Islands of Adventure (Universal Orlando Resort) guest are given instructions where to steer.
Depending on their vehicle (red fish or blue fish / one single fish or a pair of two fish) they should steer higher or lower at specific moments in the ride - or they will get wet. Static figures placed around the ride platform are programmed to spray water at the carousel.
These instructions are given in musical form - this clip features the track that plays during the ride cycle. It´s a good example how music in theme parks can not only enhance the atmosphere but can be also used to directly influence guest actions.
Also included is the music that plays during the load phase when riders are entering / exiting. This track gives basic instructions how to use the handles in the vehicles. Since this attraction is part of the "Seuss Landing" area everything is told in rhymes - including the spoken safety announcements.
