About this Seminar

This course teaches how to analyze intensive longitudinal data—repeated measurements collected across hours, days, or weeks from individuals, dyads, or groups—using mixed (multilevel) models. You’ll begin with 2- and 3-level models and progress to more advanced techniques that model both means and variances using mixed location-scale (MELS) models. Topics include modeling time-varying covariates, day/time effects, and subject-level heterogeneity in both intercepts and slopes. You’ll also learn how to distinguish within-subjects and between-subjects effects and estimate descriptive statistics even with highly unbalanced data. Methods are demonstrated using SAS, Stata, and free tools like MixRegLS and MixWILD.
