Welcome to Ask an Expert! In this episode, Resene Colour Expert Meryl Southey shows you how to pull together your own mood board.

Meryl explains the importance of a mood board when it comes to building a cohesive design, grounding your ideas and visualising your future space. You have two options – a physical or digital mood board.

One of the first steps in creating a mood board is brainstorming or mind mapping, and Meryl shows an example of a customer’s romantic bedroom makeover. It’s important to always include your room’s textures and tones as well as paint colours. Naming your board also helps you stay focused on the scheme and design.

Meryl then talks through some other examples and then highlights the Resene colour tools like Resene testpot, A4 drawdowns and wallpaper samples that are all incredibly useful when putting together a mood board.
