Motor Drives (Full Lecture)

In this lesson we'll examine motor drives, power electronics devices that vary the speed and torque of a motor under its direction by varying the supplied voltage magnitude and frequency. We'll review those properties that influence synchronous speed, examine antiquated methods of speed control, discuss rectification, inversion, and filtration, examine common motor drive specifications and parameter programming, and, finally, examine a block diagram of a generic motor drive including primary inputs and outputs, manual operators, and fixed and multipurpose analog and digital inputs and outputs.
