Manchester High School Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation

Graduation is an annual rite of passage for high school seniors – an opportunity to celebrate 13 years’ worth of friendships, hard work and amazing academic accomplishments with family and staff members. It pains us that the extraordinary circumstances caused by COVID-19 prevent us from giving these 4,500 young people the traditional commencement ceremony we are accustomed to providing.

As we celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020, we hope that this virtual graduation will remind the community of the strength, resilience and ability to overcome obstacles that our seniors exhibited throughout their academic career.

Many thanks to Southside Church for allowing us to use their facility for taping. Appreciation also is extended to our schools for compiling the senior portraits for a virtual “presentation of diplomas.”

This virtual graduation ceremony was recorded in mid-May, prior to events currently helping change and reshape our society. So, you will not hear reference to current events in speeches. We also acknowledge and apologize for the reversal of the U.S. and Virginia flags on the stage in the video.
