Looking west from Mount Wilson on March 5-6, this time lapse shows the dark blue shadow of the earth as it lowers through the dawn atmosphere with the pink Belt of Venus just above it. A circle rainbow is captured in the mist for a few frames. Clouds fog the camera, snow falls & covers the hillside, the lens ices over, and the sun breaks through as it sets. The clouds dissipate through the night and a lingering bit of ice melts and diffracts a light behind it. The horizon tilts up against the moon and Orion.
Music: Schubert’s Rosamunde, performed by Ambroise Aubrun and Henri Gronnier (violins), Alma Fernandez (viola), and Cécilia Tsan (cello). Recorded in the 100-inch dome on August 1, 2021 by Van Webster
