On Prime Time, Ravish Kumar questions the circumstances that led to historian Ramachandra Guha's appointment as Shrenik Lalbhai Chair Professor of Humanities and director of the Gandhi Winter School at the School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University, getting revoked. Did the university decide to cancel his appointment under pressure from ABVP or did Dr Guha himself decide to not take up the job to avoid controversies?
According to reports, days after the university announced the appointment of Dr Guha, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad wrote a letter to the university demanding cancellation of his appointment. Later, Dr Guha tweeted on November 1 that he would not join Ahmedabad University due to reasons 'beyond his control'. (Audio in Hindi)
