In this video Phil Hoken explains the steps and process of how to convert a Subaru 5EAT (5 speed automatic transmission) from AWD to 2WD and then reverse the drive of the transmission in order for the transmission to be installed into a Volkswagen T3 Vanagon using the RGB’s (reverse drive reduction gearboxes) from REVERSARU!
The RGB’s can be bolted to many different transmissions such as the Subaru 5MT, the Subaru 6MT and the Subaru 5EAT. The RGB’s can also be bolted to other transmissions such as the 012 and 01E Audi and VW Passat transmissions.
The beauty of this set up is that the ‘reverse drive’ is achieved inside the RGB's which is external of the actual transmission. Therefore, the internals of the transmission all spin the correct way as originally designed from factory. The RGB’s are bolted to the side of the transmission which allows for an easy, swift installation.
