Good morning everyone
Thanks for tuning in for yet another video. I take you through the top 6 hectic or stressful specialties and give you a bit of a glimpse on what they actually do on a daily. The information I got from my experience of having rotated or worked in some of the departments. I also asked a couple of colleagues in the respective fields.
Majority of studies done were American studies looking at burnout levels in Doctors in various fields. There are minor differences due to the fact that the system is set out differently in south Africa. Money wise surgical specialties: Ob's, gen Surg, Neuro Surg, plastics,Ortho, etc. tend to yield more money in private because on top of consultations and ward rounds theres also theatre time and they can charge a lot for the operations. In public however it's the same salary across all specialist except if maybe you're a department head. Grade 3 MOs with more than 10/15years experience earn the same if not more than specialists.
