Sanford Florida Snoops visited Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in May of 2021. Such baseball legends and Hall of Famers as Babe Ruth, Tim Raines, Willie Mays, & Jackie Robinson all once visited or played baseball in this area around the stadium.
The city of Sanford Florida has an interesting past when it comes to baseball history. Jackie Robinson attempted to break the color barrier here during spring training for the Montreal Royals but the police chief wouldn’t let him play and he was eventually run out of Sanford to nearby Daytona Beach. Tim Raines grew up in Sanford. Willie Mays had spring training here. Babe Ruth spoke to the crowd here only three months before his death.
I noticed the gates to Sanford Memorial Stadium were open, so me and my daughter went in. I ended up setting off the bird alarm, which initially scared me pretty good. Historic Sanford Florida’s historic baseball past.
