What is recovery like 9 months after bilateral cheilectomy surgery for hallux rigidus? In this video I detail what I have been able to do over the last 9 months and how recovery has gone. Having both feet operated on was tough but I am mostly back to full activity.
Hallux Rigidus is a degenerative condition of the joint of the big toe and is fairly common. When it gets bad enough, cheilectomy is a procedure where they remove the bone spurs and clean up the joint to allow for more motion and less pain. While nothing can "fix" the joint, this is a way to improve mobiltiy and reduce pain.
