An FPS monitor is a crucial tool for any PC gamer, and MSI Afterburner, along with its companion program RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS), provides a comprehensive solution. This guide will walk you through how to check FPS on PC and, more specifically, how to show 1% lows and 0.1% lows, which are key metrics for a smooth gaming experience.

While a simple FPS counter for PC is easy to set up, getting a full FPS monitor with advanced stats like 1% and 0.1% lows requires a few extra steps. These metrics are important because they measure the frame rate at the bottom 1% and 0.1% of all frames rendered, giving you a clear picture of any stutters or performance dips.

To get started, first ensure you have MSI Afterburner installed. Open the program, and click on the settings gear icon. Navigate to the "Monitoring" tab. Here, you'll see a list of hardware monitoring graphs. To show a basic FPS counter, find "Framerate" in the list, select it, and then check the box for "Show in On-Screen Display" (OSD). This will enable the MSI Afterburner on-screen display.

For the more advanced stats, you'll need to go beyond the basic setup. In the "Monitoring" tab, scroll down to "Framerate 1% low" and ".1% low." For these to appear on your screen, you need to enable benchmark mode within RivaTuner. To do this, find the RivaTuner icon in your system tray, right-click on it, and select "Show." You can then enter a custom name, such as "Iggy," to personalize your FPS meter for PC. This customization allows you to have a personalized and easy-to-read OSD that shows you all the performance data you need to ensure your system is performing at its best.
