Jesus Wants to Take Your Guns Away

I wrote it in about ten minutes. For the record, it was in response to the Pulse Nightclub mass shooting in Orlando, as opposed to, say, the Kalamazoo County shooting just before that, or the San Bernardino mass shooting just before that. Or the two in Colorado Springs that happened four weeks apart just before that. Or the one in Roseburg just before that. Or the one before that in Chattanooga, or the one just before that in Charleston… oh right. I wrote a song about that one too. In fact the Charleston shooting, in 2015, which ripped “Take Down Your Flag” out of my heart, found an echo in the song I wrote about Orlando: “somehow they shoot people while they dance or while they pray”. Although sometimes I wonder if I was also thinking of the Sikh temple mass shooting in my hometown. I mean, let’s face it- there’s so many to choose from.

You know what? This sales pitch about my Kickstarter just got seriously derailed. And I’m not gonna go back and change it because all of a sudden I’m mad, and further determined to see that the politicians bought and paid for by the NRA get tossed out on their bloodless cold posteriors.

So, I guess, order my new record or whatever, but DEFINITELY find someone in office to whom the NRA has awarded an A+ rating, and donate to their opponent in the next election.

Hey, NRA politicos: Jesus loves you, but the rest of us think you’re a bunch of assholes.

Wait, what’s that?

Oh. Jesus just texted me to tell me to tell you that he too thinks you’re a bunch of assholes. He wants to clarify that he loves you, because he is the representation of Love in the flesh, but while he loves you, he is also apparently still at liberty to think you’re a bunch of assholes.

I gotta say, I do not envy my friend Jesus his job. My life is way simpler than his.
