Boost Motorized Fin to Sunfish Sailboat adapter - Lake Test

Boost surfing hasn't shipped me my "stick on" adapter yet, so I'm testing their electric surfboard & stand up paddle-board fin on my sunfish sailboat using a homemade adapter.

At the highest (110% for 20 second burst) setting, the Boost Fin was able to get my 14', 120lb sunfish hull up to 4 MPH. Running closer to 80% power in SUP "Wind" mode (the fastest continuous mode) I was cruising along at 3 MPH. [Not as good as under sail with a good wind, but a lot better than my speed sculling with no wind....]

I didn't test the battery life (because I broke my cedar board trying to yank it up away from some weeds while the boost fin was still pushing the far end forward....), but if the battery gauge built into the boost surfing mobile phone app can be trusted, it looks like I could have cruzed around for about an hour before the battery reached zero percent.

Looks like the battery capacity could do 30-40 minutes of range, BUT, it would shut down (due to overheating?) after only 14-18 minutes at a time. So if you limited things to shorter runs (3-5 minutes?) with cool-down time between them you might get 5-10 runs out of it
