TOTO - Isolation (Guitar Cover)

I think I say this on every Isolation cover, and I'll say it again, but this album holds the record for being myself and my brothers car CD player the longest. I think it was around 2 to 3 months of non-stop playing of the album when driving, and it's a great album for that. If it had a Lea, or similar Porcaro type song, then it would be my favourite TOTO album period. Joe has my favourite voice, and although it would've been cool to hear a young version of himself on these tracks, I cannot take anything away from the late Fergie, who put down some killer vocals. This has always been one of my favourites from the album, and I particularly like the 'Isolation' backing vocal sound.

Luke's tone on this album was just before he got his Bradshaw rack (he mentioned in his Star Licks video, which was just after this album, that he just got the Bradshaw), but he still has some cool tone on it, which I tried to mimic with a faux Wet Dry Wet setup, using the 'lil' wave' chorus from Red Seven (Shiva), which I think handles Luke's distorted tone well. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! I found it a real challenge to figure out Luke's playing and building the muscle memory, but as always, it was fun to do. Good to be back to this music! :)

I use a Jackson DK2 Dinky from 2004 (I removed the tone pot and moved the volume over) into a Boss Me50 (where I get my tone), plus a Redseven Lil'Wave (for my chorus) into a Palmer Pdi-09 (which simulated a mic'd up cab) into a Focusrite Scarlett into my computer running Logic Pro X (where I add a little EQ and Reverb).
