The Sheepwalk Fiber Mill

Elara and I wanted to focus on small businesses in the fiber world and for this video we chose The Sheepwalk Fiber Mill in Bandera, Texas. It's hard to get fiber processed into yarn and fleece and when you do find a mill there's usually a long wait time. That's because for every three mills that close, only one reopens. It's a big problem for small farms and ranches that raise fiber animals.

So, today we are speaking with Jennifer Nimmrichter, owner/operator of The Sheepwalk Fiber Mill. What an extraordinary woman. Here's a little bit about her and the business.


Your mill owner, Jennifer has over 15 years experience as a dyer, yarn shop owner and almost 10 years under her belt as a rancher. We work with all types of fibers but specialize in the unique. We love to work in color as much as natural, so don't be shy about asking us about color swatches or working with dyed fibers. We use Cusing Dyes as our primary because it is vegetable based and will be looking to add eco-friendly dyes to our mill in 2025. We also use the gentlest soaps and earth-friendly methods to get your fiber clean. We are constantly looking at ways we can make use of every part of the fleece too! At The Sheepwalk, we believe that your product is important which means we take care to share with you any ideas we have or troubles we come across. Nothing is impossible, just sometimes impassible. We treat your fiber as if it were from our sheep. You won't find any hidden fees for extra steps we took to get your fiber from washer to processing.
