The Liberal Party governs at its best when it is anchored by core values and principles, argues Alexander Downer.
Leaders of the ilk of Menzies and Howard, or Thatcher and Reagan, are increasingly hard to come by at a time when political expedience and managerialism take precedence over the art of statesmanship.
The Menzies Research Centre is a proud custodian of this annual address in honour of our 25th prime minister. Previous speeches have been delivered by Dr Brendan Nelson AO and John Anderson AC.
