Welcome to ‘ Learn English with Deaf talks’.

Today we are going to learn about Adverbs.

Adverbs add extra information to verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs, giving us more details about how, when, where, or to what extent things happen.

For example, He ate the ice cream quickly. Or She went to school happily.

Here quickly and happily are adverbs.

They provide additional information about how, when, where, or to what extent an action or state occurs.

They help to find the meaning of a sentence by answering questions like "how?" or "when?"

Example: She finished her homework quickly,
here it helps to know how she did her homework.
The answer is quickly.

Example- The flowers bloomed beautifully in the garden.
Here it helps to know how the flowers bloomed in the garden.
The answer is Beautiful.

Is that clear?

They can also modify entire sentences, expressing the speaker's attitude or perspective.

Example: Luckily, he passed the exam.
Unfortunately he didn’t get the job.

Did you see anything special in adverbs ?

Many adverbs end with ‘ly’ right?

Yes.

Adverbs can be formed by adding -ly to adjectives, but some adverbs have irregular forms.

Example; quickly, happily, luckily etc or loud, fast, more etc

I hope everyone is clear about adverbs. If you have any doubt, comment.

Keep watching to learn more.

Thank you.
