Today’s review is all about a vintage gem from the LEGO Trains era: Set 149 – Fuel Refinery, released in 1976 and sold only in Europe, the UK and Australia.
A Shell refinery designed as a background build for the 1970s train layout, with 322 parts including the rare printed 24x32 baseplate that was only ever included in this set.
We’ll explore the beautiful original box, the hand-drawn manual, rare parts like pre-minifigure Shell bricks, closed stud round bricks, and early 2x2 & 2x4 bricks without side supports — all historically accurate for the period.
