My name is Reverend Jasper Williams, Jr, and I’m writing to you today because there is a crisis in black America. As you are reading these words, neighborhoods and families across the country are suffering from crime, violence, poverty, and lack of education. Most of all, they’re suffering from lack of stable family environments. You already know this; but how do we go about the process of healing and restoring black America?
In 2014, shortly after the death of Michael Brown, the Lord gave me a vision for starting a network of leaders in the Atlanta area. The purpose of this organization was to brainstorm and combat the urgent needs in our society. A local team of mayors, police chiefs, superintendents, and other officials weighed in on how the church can actively help.
Thus was born AACTS: African American Churches Transforming Society.
As African American believers, you and I have a spiritual calling to reclaim the Biblical family model in our communities. As goes the family, so goes the neighborhood, county, state, country, and the world. It’s time to remember our identity, beginning with the home.
In the following days, I want to explore three key questions about how we can reclaim Biblical family. The most important thing you can do right now is to join this movement, act in obedience to God’s will for our people, and begin to restore communities across America.
