Recently NHAI has awarded 4-laning tender for construction of Binnaguri Bypass of NH-27
(Mahananda Barrage - Fulbari More - Jotiakali More) in the Ghoshpurkur - Jalpaiguri - Dhupguri - Falakata - Alipurduar - Salsalabari section of East West Corridor i.e. NH-27 in West Bengal.
This construction work will bridge the last missing link of 4-lane highway system in West Bengal which consists of NH-12 (old NH-34), NH-27, Kalyani Expressway, Dankuni - Mogra - Jaguli Corridor and Golden Quadrilater (NH-2, NH-6). It will allow one to reach Cooch Behar from Kolkata via a 4-lane highway. In addition, it will also connect all north-eastern states of India though a 4-lane highway.
