A community panel discussion aiming to bring together voices from diverse layers of activist networks who will offer their thoughts on responding to Pierre Poilievre’s violent economic and political agenda.
What would a community response to Poilievre’s corporate agenda look like? How can activists spark action that speaks directly to challenging the Conservative agenda beyond the limitations of the official political sphere? What does an autonomous activist response look like that exists outside of the political reach of both the NDP and Liberals?
A Conservative government under Poilievre literally views white supremacist formations and right wing nationalist organizations as legitimate constituency groups. Poilievre has made a career out of attacking public services, LGBTQ people, Indigenous land rights and views marginalized people and community as points of attack for an extremist right wing agenda.
Allowing a Conservative government to come to pass without a popular collective mobilization that is honest and connected to grassroots organizing is urgent. For activists to not stop Poilievre we will allow for the Conservatives to continue to create the political groundwork that creates a broader right wing nationalist opening that eventually can lead to situations like we are witnessing in France and Italy today.
This event is supported by Courage, Friends of Public Services Canada and the Coalition d'action solidaire contre l'austérité.
