Tinubu Vowed To Deliver Edo +Okpebholo Defeats Asue Ighodalo+ Oshiomhole Celebrates Victory| OjyOkpe

Monday Okpebholo of the all progressives congress, emerged winner of the Edo elections, over the weekend, after defeating his closest rival Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Monday Okpebholo, In a statement posted X by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on media and strategy, Tinubu asked Okpebholo not to gloat over his victory.

In the meantime, a video showing the president promising to return Edo State, to the All progressives congress has resurfaced online, eliciting several reactions.

Over the weekend, reports of voter suppression, vote buying and ballot box snatching characterized the election.

Our reporter on ground Ovietieme George, spoke with a voter, who voiced his frustration over INEC’s inadequacies.

Videos of ballot papers being burnt and people captured with money to influence voters also made rounds on social media.

Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor was said to have stormed the INEC office in Benin at about 12:47am, alleging irregularities with the collation of results, before the police escorted him out of the premises.

In a viral video on Sunday, some governors of the All Progressives Congress including Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State gathered at the situation room in Benin, to worship and await the election results.

On Sunday night, in a broadcast to residents, Godwin Obaseki called for calm, saying those who feel aggrieved should follow due process by challenging the outcome in court.
