Just for the record, this was taken a few days after Christmas of 2018, and I do apologize if this isn't the best tech review and if it doesn't go super in depth, but I didn't have much time to do it as we were about to take this computer out and put it in for storage.
Anyways, earlier this year, I did promise I'd expand my content beyond elevators and hotels, well, here is the start of that. I figured I'd do some tech reviews of tech around the house since I do find technology interesting, so here you go!
Anyways, This is my now Very Old HP Pavillion 500 Desktop from either 2009 or 2010 (my family got it in 2010). Even though this computer model is very old now, this one is currently running Windows 10, and you can pick one up for under $200. So, 10 YEARS LATER, is it ANY good?
My answer to that is yes and no. It can run Windows 10 and most of it's apps pretty well, The Chrome Browser works great, and the Monitor Despite its' age, has a 1080p screen, and it is able to type very well, and while it only has 8 GBs of RAM and is a pretty old machine, it can play some games pretty well actually, but not at highest settings, but not lowest either thanks to an AMD A8 CPU and integrated graphics.
That said, despite 8 GBs of RAM, the computer Is VERY SLOW when it comes to booting up, and Microsoft Edge doesn't work real well on this computer. Also, it doesn't have a built in webcam, and It Can't Video Edit or Photo Edit without lagging and/or crashing, and many apps like Skype do not work very well. Not to mention, video exporting times are VERY LONG and it doesn't support 4K video, being the monitor is only 1080p.
So bottom line is, if all you need to do is check Emails, do basic web browsing, flash games, type on Word, Play 1080p or lower video, and play some PC games, this thing will work just fine. Just know, it isn't great for video or any kind of editing whatsoever, some of the latest RAM consuming apps do not work well if at all on here, and regardless what I said about gaming, yes it can game, but that is with titles from 2014 or earlier. Newer titles will most likely not work so well. Not to mention, it only has a 1080p monitor. And tbh, most of the things this thing can do, you can do with a Laptop, All in One, some Tablets and more portable devices. The only thing I can think of that would make this worth getting now would be how cheap it is.
That all being said, enjoy the video, and stay tuned for more tech related videos!
