𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐚 (𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓)

This work draws inspiration from the folk songs of the Faroe Islands. The music of the Faroe Islands has, for centuries, been woven through song, through the human voice. Passed down orally from one person to another, these songs continue to live on today. From a single melody, countless variations emerged in the course of transmission; at times the transformations were so profound that the original could hardly be recognized. Each song became a mirror of the singer, a reflection of the one who gave it voice. At times, many voices would resound together, weaving together in song.
What I seek is not to re-create a song of the past. This work is born from the memory of those living songs, and stands as one variation among them—
a song carried forward, in the voice of the present.
