Perseus Double Cluster | Amazing Clusters NGC 884 & NGC 869 | Astrophotography & Observation

The Wonderful Perseus double Cluster, is made up of a physical pairing of two large open clusters NGC 884 and NGC 869 and it’s located within the boundaries of the constellation of Perseus, between the bright stars of Perseus and Cassiopeia.

The perseus double cluster an amazing pair for naked eye observing, binoculars or telescope it is a fantastic little target for larger apature too but works best in small instruments, for both visual observation and astrophotography, I used my EVOLUX 82ED with the QHY163m to gather the data for the live view as well as the light frames for the photo.

Visual observing The Cluster is easy once you locate it and rewarding with this target as it is a great test of seeing conditions, and you can really tease out detail as you get familiar with it over the months and years and during august is a great target for the nights of the Meteor shower.

I hope that these videos can give you an idea of how the night sky can look at the eyepiece of a 200 PDS, 200p, 300p flextube or any 200mm 8 inch or 300mm 12 inch reflector telescope and using a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. I find when trying to purchase a telescope, it is hard to find out what you can see through the eyepiece .
