This unusual specimen is a cornet made in 1976 somewhere in the USSR. It's an upright rotary valve cornet, though takes a trumpet sized mouthpiece.
Unfortunately since I can't get the rotors working reliably, expect this instrument to become a feature of the wall behind me.
