Barrier chair was a Riblet center pole double chair, installed in 1953. It was Stevens Pass's first chairlift, providing easier access to a wealth of intermediate and advanced terrain. Over 30 years later, Stevens Pass had worked with Thiokol, and its successor, CTEC on two new chairlifts. With the introduction of detachables from CTEC after combining with European lift manufacturer Garaventa, cheaper detachable lifts had hit the market. Stevens Pass installed one to replace Barrier in 1996, making it their first high-speed lift, renaming it to Skyline Express.
Skyline Express is a Garaventa CTEC high speed quad. It uses AK-4 grips, Stealth II terminals, and CTEC style chairs. It is the only way to access 7th Heaven, and in addition to the longer vertical and length of its runs, it tends to be on the crowded side during peak periods.
