This project is inspired by the Mermaid costume in the 1888 Weldon’s Practical Fancy Dress for Ladies. I’ve always loved Victorian fancy dress, and was excited to finally have an excuse to try it out!
In addition, this costume is made entirely from materials I already had on hand for free! Materials were mostly stash fabrics, some cloth napkins, a thrift store dress, seashells I found at the beach, and even a roll of garbage picked fabric!
