Rajkumar Bharathi, born on June 24, 1958, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a distinguished Indian classical singer and composer. He is the great-grandson of the renowned poet and freedom fighter, Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi. Rajkumar Bharathi was introduced to music at the age of five by his mother, Lalitha Bharathi, who was also his initial music teacher. He pursued engineering and graduated as an Electronics and Telecommunications engineer from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai. After his initial training with his mother, Rajkumar received further tutelage from esteemed musicians such as Valliyur Gurumurthy, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, and T.V. Gopalakrishnan. Under their guidance, he honed his skills in Carnatic music, which laid the foundation for his illustrious career. Rajkumar Bharathi has performed extensively across India and internationally. He is known for his clear diction and expressive rendition of lyrics, which have garnered him a wide following, particularly in Karnataka for his interpretations of Dasara Padagalu. In 2002, Rajkumar was diagnosed with dysphonia, a condition affecting the vocal cords, which led him to shift his focus from singing to composing. Since then, he has composed music for various dance productions and thematic presentations, collaborating with eminent dancers and institutions. His compositions are noted for their creativity and adherence to classical traditions. Throughout his career, Rajkumar Bharathi has received numerous accolades. Rajkumar Bharathi's journey from a vocalist to a composer exemplifies resilience and dedication to the art of music. His contributions continue to inspire and enrich the Indian classical music and dance landscape.

These lines are from "Vinayakar nanmani malai", a forty-song collection composed by Subramania Bharathi in praise of Lord Ganapathi, revered in Puducherry as Maṇakkuḷa Vinayakar. Bharathi composed these songs during his self-imposed exile in French-ruled Puducherry to escape British persecution for his freedom-oriented writings. Though devotional in form, the song conveys a strong patriotic spirit, emphasizing fearlessness, moral strength, inner awakening, and personal responsibility. By invoking Ganapathi as the embodiment of wisdom and courage, Bharathi seamlessly blends spirituality with national consciousness, inspiring people to overcome fear and strive for lasting freedom and glory through righteous action.

Meaning:

Let us place Lord Ganapathi at the forefront of our thoughts. O people, become strong through noble qualities and virtues.

The fire that awakens enthusiasm and gives radiant confidence arises within us. With that inner strength and valor, We can conquer all directions and plant the flag of victory everywhere. We can take destiny and responsibility firmly into our own hands.

Our fear disappears, and divine nectar (courage and wisdom) flows. The seeds of virtue grow, and sacred sacrifices flourish. To attain immortality (lasting glory and honor), This is the path we must clearly realize and follow. Let us place Lord Ganapathi at the forefront of our thoughts. O people, become strong through noble qualities and virtues.
