History and Flight in a B-17 Flying Fortress (PART 1) | Behind the Wings
This video is dedicated to the following members of the Commemorative Air Force - Terry Barker, Craig Hutain, Kevin "K5" Michels, Dan Ragan, Leonard "Len" Root, and Curt Rowe - who lost their lives in a tragic crash on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the Wings Over Dallas WWII Airshow while performing in "Texas Raiders" B-17G Flying Fortress. Please join us in offering our deepest condolences for the loss of our good friends and fellow airmen.
The B-17 wasn’t the biggest, fastest, or most widely-used bomber in World War II, but it has become an icon of the air war in Europe.
Its defensive firepower, superior handling characteristics, and ability to bring its crews home even with severe battle damage earned it everlasting fame.
To make this episode even better, we joined The CAF Gulf Coast Wing's B-17 Texas Raiders - and yes, we are going to get to fly in this incredible aircraft. It's time to go... Behind the Wings!
