Carving a face in soft wood. Start to finish.
I had this piece of spruce building plank lying around for ages, too short to be useful for anything..............................
I had just done a silhouette face in a block of lime but it still had a high moisture content which made it impossible to sand so I could not get down to the subtleties. So I grabbed this plank as I knew it was totally dry. The main reason for carving this face was to figure out how to do the corner of the mouth. It's a difficult little area. Didn't quite get it perfect but I think I made some progress.
I apologise. It turns out to be really hard to carve something without standing in front of it blocking the camera!
