Five men set up a heavy mortar in the middle of the eastern Ukrainian countryside. The men are soldiers of the 12th separate special unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the device is a 120KRH92 grenade launcher manufactured in 1997 by the Finnish company Vammas Oy.

The men lift a wooden box from the platform of the car, which reveals two Finnish 120 mm fragmentation grenades and the matching detonators.

As for the grenades, we have a problem. We use different types of ammunition. Finnish grenades fly up to 7.5 kilometers. They are very accurate. If we need to destroy a target, we usually hit with a second shot. We have to use up to five of our own or other grenades. The ones made in Finland are the best we have.

In the Donetsk region near the village of Velyka Novosilka. The front line of the war runs a good ten kilometers away in the direction of the south. An almost uninterrupted rumble of artillery can be heard from there.
