City of Trauma: Healing in Haiti's Most Dangerous City

In the heart of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, one of the most volatile and dangerous cities in the world, a quiet but powerful transformation is taking place. This emotional documentary takes viewers inside a protection programme offering women a rare safe space to process the trauma of living in fear.

Through intimate interviews and raw, unfiltered moments, the film highlights the deep struggles faced by women and children caught in the cycle of conflict. Many live under constant threat, their lives restricted by fear and instability. But within the walls of group therapy sessions, they find something often missing from daily life: a chance to speak, to be heard, and to begin to heal.

Led by Concern Worldwide and local partners, these sessions offer more than emotional support—they provide a lifeline where victims can find strength in the shadows. For survivors, they are a place to reclaim a sense of dignity, resilience, and hope.

Directed by Jon Hozier-Byrne and Kathy Armstrong, this is the third installment in our Concern Worldwide documentary series, shining a light on the human stories behind global crises, and the strength it takes to survive them.

This is a story of pain, but also of extraordinary courage. A story of community, healing, and the quiet power of being seen.
