He led them into the midbar — the wilderness — not to punish, but to speak, to test, and to transform. The wilderness is the classroom of covenant, where every false security is stripped away and only Presence remains.
Here, manna trains trust. Water from the Rock reveals Messiah. Amalek attacks the weary. Murmuring exposes the heart. Leadership is tested. Covenant is proven. The first Exodus is not just history — it is prophecy — a rehearsal of the Second Exodus still ahead for the Remnant.
