ChemKnits Chanukah Special 2018 Night 2 - Dip Dyeing Yarn in Two Rit Colors

Let's dip dye some KnitPicks Imagination Yarn http://shrsl.com/18hbs (Affiliate Link - 50% Merino Wool, 25% Superfine Alpaca, 25% Nylon Fingering Weight) into two different colors of Rit Liquid Dyes! I love creating dip dyed "broken" colorways with food coloring, and not all commercial acid dyes break into multiple hues. This technique is a way to get something similar where you can pick the colors for your repeating variegated gradient.

[0:00] Introduction
[1:35] presoaking the yarn in plain tap water for 30+ min
[1:49] Setting up the dyebath - 16 cups of water + 4 tablespoons for white vinegar
[2:39] Dip dyeing into navy - Add 1 tablespoon Rit Liquid Navy to the pot.
[6:09] Soaking up the rest of the navy dye with some dry KnitPicks Swish DK - 100% Superwash Merino
[7:15] Comparing the dyed bonus yarn's color saturation to the dip dyed yarn
[8:22] Dipping the imagination yarn (other end!) into Rit Liquid Teal (1 T added to the dyepot)
[12:14] After 10 min, Turn off the heat and let the yarn cool off a bit in the pot.
