India is slowly turning into a country of duopolies and giant cartels – and the IndiGo crisis has exposed how dangerous that can be.
In this video, we break down how:
⸻
✈️ AVIATION: Indigo vs Everyone
• IndiGo now controls over 53% of India’s total seat capacity – more than half the market in a single airline. Air India Group is a distant second at around 12%.
• After massive flight cancellations, India’s regulator (DGCA) was forced to cut IndiGo’s approved schedule by 5%, roughly 115 flights a day, just to align operations with what the airline can actually handle.
• Jab ek sector mein itna concentration hota hai, consumers ke paas choice kam bachi rehti hai – aur pura system ek company ke crisis se hil jaata hai.
⸻
📶 TELECOM: Jio + Airtel Duopoly
• As of end-2024, Reliance Jio + Bharti Airtel together control around 73% of India’s total mobile subscribers (Jio ~40%, Airtel ~33.5%), with Vodafone Idea and BSNL far behind.
• Broadband (4G/5G data) mein to aur bhi zyada concentration hai – wireless broadband users mein Jio alone has about 50%+ share, Airtel ~30%, baaki sab milkar 20% se bhi kam.
• Government policies like SIM-binding for OTT apps, jise telcos openly support, aur Big Tech oppose kar raha hai, clearly dikhata hai ki regulation ka pressure kiske favour mein jaa raha hai.
⸻
🧱 CEMENT: UltraTech + Adani Block the Game
• India ke top 4 cement players – UltraTech, Adani group’s ACC–Ambuja, Shree, Dalmia – milkar already ~50%+ market share control karte hain, aur FY26 tak isse ~54% tak le jane ka plan hai.
• UltraTech alone has ~26% capacity share; Adani group (ACC + Ambuja + Penna + Orient) aggressively acquisitions karke India ka second-largest cement player ban chuka hai.
⸻
📺 OTT & CONTENT: Reliance Empire Everywhere
• India ka OTT market FY24–25 mein lagbhag ₹37,940 crore ka ho chuka hai. Yahan YouTube 38% share le raha hai, aur JioCinema / JioHotstar ~23% ke aas-paas second position pe hai.
• Subscription OTT (SVOD) segment mein, JioHotstar ~25% market share ke saath clear leader hai, ahead of Netflix, Prime Video, etc.
• Reliance–Disney ka JioHotstar aur JioStar ecosystem TV + Sports + OTT mila kar claim karta hai:
• ~34% TV entertainment share,
• 85%+ sports viewership share,
• aur 600M+ users ke ecosystem ke saath “billion screens” ka target.
⸻
⚓ PORTS & INFRA: Adani’s Grip on Gateways
• Adani Ports aaj India ka largest private port operator hai – 15 Indian ports, overseas terminals, aur lagbhag 27–28% of India’s total cargo handling ka share.
• Group ka target hai FY30 tak 1 billion tonnes cargo handle karna, almost double current levels – matlab desh ke trade gateways par aur bhi zyada strategic control.
⸻
🧩 Big Picture: Ambani + Adani + Policy
Is video mein hum ye discuss karte hain:
• Kya ye saari duopolies/oligopolies sirf market efficiency ka result hain, ya policy decisions ne inko actively empower kiya hai?
• Kaise Reliance (Jio, JioHotstar, TV network) aur Adani (ports, power, cement, airports) jaise groups almost har critical sector mein strong position bana chuke hain.
• Aur Modi sarkar ke daur mein privatization, mergers, licensing rules, spectrum policies, OTT regulation, ports & infra bids, sab milkar ek new power structure create kar rahe hain — jahan chhote players bahar ho rahe hain, aur kuch groups aur zyada powerful.
Ye video kisi party ya company ko hate karne ke liye nahi hai – ye ek attempt hai samajhne ka ki:
“Jab desh ke core sectors sirf kuch families ke control mein aa jate hain, toh democracy, prices, jobs aur common aadmi ke liye iska kya matlab hai?”
