No better day than World Schizophrenia Day to clear up some misconceptions about #schizophrenia.

1) People with schizophrenia do NOT have “split personalities”. They are just like other people, except that their thoughts and perceptions work differently.

2) Having schizophrenia does NOT mean a person is dangerous or crazy. They happen to see and experience the world differently, and sometimes they may hallucinate, which is seeing, hearing, tasting or smelling things that others don’t experience.

3) People with schizophrenia can live happy and fulfilling lives with the right treatment, which usually includes medication.
