Senior IPS officer and Karnataka DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement) K Ramachandra Rao is once again at the centre of a major controversy after an alleged video surfaced on social media. The 48-second clip, reportedly recorded inside a police office, has triggered serious questions about conduct, accountability, and the credibility of the police force itself. Rao has outrightly denied the allegations, calling the video “morphed and fabricated.”

The controversy comes close on the heels of another explosive case, the arrest of his stepdaughter, Kannada actor Ranya Rao, who was caught at Bengaluru International Airport in March 2025 with 14.2 kg of smuggled gold.
Investigative agencies later alleged misuse of police protocol services, hawala funding, and a larger smuggling syndicate.

कर्नाटक पुलिस के वरिष्ठ IPS अधिकारी और DGP (Civil Rights Enforcement) के. रामचंद्र राव एक बार फिर बड़े विवाद के केंद्र में हैं।
सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल हुए 48 सेकंड के एक कथित वीडियो ने न सिर्फ एक वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी की साख पर सवाल खड़े कर दिए, बल्कि पूरे पुलिस विभाग की कार्यशैली को कटघरे में ला दिया है।

यह वही अधिकारी हैं जिन्हें 2022 में The Great Son of India Award से सम्मानित किया गया था और जिन्हें कमजोर वर्गों के अधिकारों की रक्षा से लेकर पुलिस हाउसिंग कॉरपोरेशन जैसी अहम जिम्मेदारियाँ सौंपी गई थीं।
लेकिन अब आरोप है कि उनके कार्यालय में चोरी-छिपे रिकॉर्ड हुए एक वीडियो में आपत्तिजनक दृश्य कैद हैं।

इस विवाद की पृष्ठभूमि और भी गंभीर हो जाती है क्योंकि मार्च 2025 में उनकी सौतेली बेटी और अभिनेत्री रान्या राव को बेंगलुरु एयरपोर्ट पर 14.2 किलो सोने की तस्करी के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया था।
DRI की जांच में पुलिस प्रोटोकॉल के दुरुपयोग, हवाला नेटवर्क और वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की भूमिका पर भी सवाल उठे।
