Prairieville Wins at Ascension Catholic | A Full-Circle Night of Family, Legacy & Grit

On January 16, 2026, the Prairieville Hurricanes traveled to Ascension Catholic in Donaldsonville, located on the west bank of Ascension Parish, for a hard-fought road game filled with intensity, momentum swings, and multiple lead changes.

This game was filmed live from the stands with real-time commentary, focused on the flow of the game, the effort of the boys, and the adjustments made on the floor as the Hurricanes battled possession by possession. Prairieville ultimately found a way to win another close contest, showing unity, resilience, and determination from start to finish. Mason A had another strong performance as the team worked together through every challenge.

What made this night especially meaningful for our family was the location. Mason played this game in the very same gym where his Mawmaw, Coach Pam, served as head coach more than 35 years ago for Ascension Catholic’s basketball and volleyball programs. At that time, Mason’s mom and aunt were just 3–5 years old. Returning to this gym brought back a deep sense of nostalgia and family history.

It was also a joy to reconnect with longtime Ascension Catholic parents who had eight children attend the school—three of their daughters were coached by Coach Pam years ago. Sharing memories and reflecting on those years made the evening even more special.

A heartfelt thank you to the coaches, referees, school staff, and everyone behind the scenes who make high school athletics possible. Congratulations to the Prairieville Hurricanes and their coaching staff for another hard-earned win. The effort, unity, and growth shown by this team truly stand out.
