Tear gas and clashes in Rome as pro-Palestine march turns violent

A pro-Palestinian protest in Rome ended in clashes on Saturday after demonstrators condemned Israel’s interception of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza.

The march began peacefully, with students, families and older residents among the crowds.

As the rally dispersed, a smaller group confronted police. Officers responded with tear gas and water cannons, detaining several protesters.

It was the fourth consecutive day of demonstrations across Italy following the flotilla raid.
