Many people believe that heart attacks happen suddenly and without warning. But doctors say this is not always true. In fact, the body often gives warning signals days or even weeks before a heart attack. Sadly, these signs are commonly mistaken for small problems like gas, tiredness, or low blood pressure.
Recognising these early signs can save lives. Here are 8 warning signs you should never ignore:
1. Acidity and Frequent Burping
If you feel regular acidity or keep burping, don’t take it lightly. It may seem like indigestion, but sometimes, it can be due to less blood reaching the heart.
2. Excessive Sweating
Sweating too much, especially when you are not doing any hard work or when the weather is cool, could be a sign that your heart is under stress. Cold sweats, in particular, are a red flag.
3. Pain on the Left Side of the Body
Pain in the left arm is a well-known symptom, but heart attack pain can also spread to the left shoulder, chest, or even back. If you feel such pain increasing slowly, consult a doctor immediately.
4. Jaw Discomfort or Pain
Not all heart attacks come with chest pain. Some people feel pain in the jaw, neck, or throat. This pain is often ignored or thought to be a dental issue, but it could be your heart giving a warning.
5. Unexplained Fatigue
If you feel very tired all the time—even after resting well—it could be because your heart is not pumping blood properly. Feeling weak while doing everyday tasks like climbing stairs or lifting bags should not be ignored.
6. Low Blood Pressure
Feeling dizzy or lightheaded again and again might be due to low blood pressure, which can be a sign of heart issues. A sudden drop in BP must always be checked by a doctor.
7. Loss of Appetite
Not feeling hungry or feeling full even after eating a small amount might show that blood is not flowing properly in your body. If this comes with nausea or stomach pain, it's time to see a doctor.
8. Cold Hands and Feet
If your hands and feet often feel cold or numb for no reason, this may be due to poor blood circulation from a weak heart.
Doctors suggest that people should not ignore these signs and get a proper check-up done if they feel anything unusual. A healthy heart needs attention, care, and early action.
Takeaway:
Don’t wait for a big symptom. Pay attention to your body’s small warnings and live a heart-healthy life.
