The next step is just basically to now take that keyword outline
and having having said it out loud, in complete sentences, we want to now write it out in complete sentences. Here is a good time to talk about capitals, indenting and punctuation. Today I'm finding that students are people that hand assignments to me, often don't even have capitals at the beginning of school. If I'm saying students I mean learners. I know that that's the new word, right?
I'm finding that students, that by the time they get to high school, seem to have forgotten that they're supposed to use capitals and punctuation.
Even in high school we should put these signs up.
Every sentence must begin with a capital.
Every sentence must end with some sort of punctuation.
These are the good signs to put up here. And then indentation at the very first line of a paragraph, must be indented. Is that true still? To me that's true. I know in business, it's not.
And double-spaced? Well you decide.
It's what's going to be consistent, and what's going to be neat. And that they can follow, right? And also, when they're writing it out,I tell my students to double space.
Make sure that you're writing on every other line, because it makes it easier to go back, and make changes.
We're going to be doing that later on today.
We're going to make changes to our paragraphs. And where do we put those changes, if we haven't left room so we're going to double space. It's also really good for you guys because I've seen
papers come where they're all squished into those first three lines and it's very difficult to read or mark.
So double space. For young students, I have them put an X on every second line, so they can't write on that line, because it's very difficult to remember to double space, and some will forget.
