Fix Microsoft Excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action


Another common reason Excel users receive this error when they try to open their excel file is due to the DDE application feature. To remove this potential issue, you can enable the "Ignore other applications that use DDE" option.

Open your MS Excel workbook, click on the File menu, and then Options.

From here, select the Advanced tab and scroll to the General area option.

Tick the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" choice.

Restart your Excel document to see if the Excel application messaging has gone away.
