Hello everyone, welcome to my channel, my name is Carey and I have a sports cards YouTube channel. If you are here for another card rip, you’ll have to come back in a few days for that. Today I’m going to talk about how YOU can start a YouTube channel, and quickly be on your way to being a money making content creator! I have only been monetized for about 3 weeks after a year of making content, so I am by no means an expert, this is just my advice from my experience. These are my 10 Tips for how to make money on YouTube in 2026.

But before we get into that, let’s start with what you have to do to get monetized. To be able to make money from your YouTube content, you have to hit a few benchmarks - you need to reach 1,000 subscribers and also have either 4,000 hours of watch time in the past 365 days on your long form videos, or 1 million views in the past 90 days on your YouTube Shorts videos. That may seem like a lot, but it really only takes a couple good videos to reach that goal. It took me about a year to hit 1,000 subscribers as a Sports Cards channel, and most of that came from two videos - one where I hit a card worth a few thousand dollars from a $35 box, and one that didn’t actually cost me any money but where I was just discussing how to go about making money selling cards when you have thousands of them.
