Recycling typically requires sorting, washing, drying, and grinding plastics before they can be melted and shaped into pellets which are then mixed with virgin resin pellets.
The Miura Board® technology and process allow us to use mixed (commingled) plastic waste, including multi-layer plastics, metallized films, etc. to create our fiber-plastic composite 4'x8' panels.
PP, HDPE, LDPE, ABS and PS plastic types can all be processed together. Contaminants such as cardboard, aluminum foil and fibers (e.g. cellulose) do not need to be removed.
We also obviate the expensive washing and drying stages, as well as effluent treatment, pelletizing and cooling.
The secret behind Miura Board® is the proprietary design and build of the processing equipment itself. Specific custom-built reactors and extruders carry out each of the crucial production stages:
• Mixing & Densification
• Extrusion
• Roll Milling (Laminating)
• Cooling
