• ingredients:
2 packs phyllo dough
6-8 oranges
orange zest from the oranges you’ll use
vanilla of your choice as needed
1 1/2 cups yogurt
8 medium or large eggs
1 1/2 cups sunflower or olive oil
1 tbsp baking powder
1 cups sugar
for the syrup:
5 cups water
6 cups sugar
orange zest orange slices
• instructions:
cut the phyllo dough into small pieces ( cubes) and let dehydrate overnight or for faster into your oven in the lowest heat
into a large pot add the water, the sugar, half of the the zest, the oranges and the cinnamon sticks
boil covered for about 30’ minutes in medium heat
in a large bowl add the eggs, the sugar, the oil, the yogurt, the vanilla, the other half of the zest, the baking powder and mix with very well
when the syrup is ready take about 1 1/2-2 cups from the boiled oranges, pure them and add them into the mixture
then add the phyllo dough crumbs, mix very well and let them soak for about 10’ minutes
then transfer into a greased skillet and bake for 30-40’ minutes at 380F ( 180C) or until a toothpick or a knife comes out clean
when is ready, let rest for about 10-15’ minutes and then cut in pieces
after you cut in pieces then add the syrup slowly and evenly everywhere
decorate with the orange slices and allow to fully absorb the syrup
